Rival Palestinian Factions Urged to Talk

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Saudi Arabia's king urged Palestinian rival factions Sunday to hold talks in the holy city of Mecca as fighting between the Hamas and Fatah movements persisted in Gaza with no clear winner emerging.

Hamas and Fatah gunmen battled each other across Gaza early Monday. Two Hamas fighters were killed overnight in the fighting as attacks were mounted on security compounds. An electrical transformer was knocked out by gunmen, plunging large parts of Gaza City into darkness.

Some of the most intense fighting took place outside the Gaza City headquarters of the Preventive Security Service, which a decade ago had led a crackdown on Hamas and is fiercely …

The Loan Market's Comeback Kid? Covenants.

Further indicating that investors are now calling the shots on the credit markets, issuers are hotfooting to add covenants to recently launched leveraged loan deals.

Last week, Source Interlink, Vertrue, Van Houtte and Harlan Sprague Dawley were forced to add leverage maintenance covenants to their credit facilities, according to a report from Credit Suisse. Across the pond, England's Alliance Boots has also added covenants to its megadeal. And sources say these issuers likely won't be the only ones.

With the covenants added, however, investors are confident these deals, which are all acquisition financings, will close.

"In the past four weeks, the market has backed up big time," one investor said. "Covenant-lite is very out of favor currently, and the covenant-lite kind of structures we saw get done in the past are trading much more [bearishly] relative to their corporate structures. I would think given the general market demand for that type of paper, I'm not surprised they would add covenants."

Indeed, in a round of selling to hit the loan market early …

Kotler sheds light on tourism marketing.

Sri Lanka, June 8 -- Sri Lanka has great opportunity to become a green tourist destination and the country has fantastic green landscape that could attract any kind of tourist.

Renowned marketing guru Prof Philip Kotler visited Sigiriya on Sunday. Kotler's visit to Sigiriya was organized by Sri Lanka Tourism and Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Dr Nalaka Godahewa. Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) President Thushara Perera and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau (SLTPB) Managing Director Rumy Jauffer also accompanied him on the tour.

It should re-think about the right slogan to promote the country, marketing guru Prof Philip Kotler said.

SriLankan Airlines could play an imperative role in promoting the country as Sri Lanka has enormous potential to offer tourists. The country could promote tourism by changing the mindset of tomorrow's decision-makers, Kotler said after a visit to the Sigiriya Rock fortress on Sunday.

"Infrastructure development activities carried out at present will facilitate faster economic growth and it will also ensure the growth in the tourism industry. The necessary growth model could be derived at the human development summit gathering global gurus to change people's perception and capacity building to be held shortly," he said.

"There are many countries in the world striving to obtain the green label, but Sri Lanka truly deserves to be called a green destination. It is one of the best locations in the world for eco-tourism," he said.

Youth, women and people attracted to the internet are called netizens, could really make a change in Sri Lanka. I think the two letters S and L in the word Sri Lanka should mean "So Lovely" which is the feeling I had visiting this wonderful landscape," Prof Kotler said.

Zain Kuwait Selects NEC to Build High-Capacity Indoor Mobile Network in Kuwait.

NEC's Femtocell solution enables Kuwait's Zain to ensure high-quality, high-speed mobile services even when indoors

Tokyo and London, May 19, 2011 - (JCN Newswire) - NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today that Zain Kuwait, a leading telecommunications operator across the Middle East, has selected NEC's Femtocell solution to enhance the indoor mobile experience of its enterprise and consumer customers. Zain plans to launch Kuwait's first commercial high-speed, high-quality Femtocell service to its enterprise customers this year.

"In September 2010 we began a thorough user trial with NEC. During this successful trial we found that our customers highly valued the quality of service Femtocell technology brings," said Zain Kuwait CTO, Yaqoub Khajah. "NEC's Femtocell solution provided high throughput and superior indoor coverage."

Yaqoub Khajah continues: "We are confident in NEC's Femtocell solutions and the implementation happened over a very short period of time. The success and first rate support from NEC in Kuwait, has lead us to consider introducing Femtocell solutions to our operation companies in the Middle East."

"NEC is honored to be selected for Zain Kuwait's first commercial contract for Femtocell solutions." said Toshiya Matsuki, General Manager of the International Sales and Operations Business Unit. "NEC's Femtocell solution will allow Zain Kuwait to differentiate from other operators by providing their customers with premium mobile services. Our Femtocell solution will ensure that their customers always have the five-bar coverage indoors that they expect and dedicated capacity to run data-intensive applications on their smart phones and tablets."

An NEC Femtocell is a small wireless cellular base station similar in size and appearance to a broadband router that connects over broadband to a mobile operator's core network. It provides dedicated mobile coverage and capacity for full personal use delivering excellent experience and increased customer loyalty.

NEC is providing Zain Kuwait an end-to-end Femtocell solution that includes NEC Femtocell, and Femtocell gateway systems that connect to Zain's existing core systems. Zain Kuwait's customers can install the NEC Femtocell with no intervention from Zain due to its "plug and play" capability.

NEC is a pioneer in the adoption of Femtocell technology. It has 14 contracts worldwide and 28 trials with operators around the World. The number of 3G connected subscribers is rapidly increasing and around 70 per cent(*) of these services are used indoors. However, issues remain with 3G radio penetrating buildings, leaving customers with dropped calls and slow, or no Internet connection indoors. The user experience is damaged by these network coverage holes. NEC's Femtocell offers mobile operators an enhanced, cost-effective 3G mobile network that enables them to provide premium mobile services and an excellent consumer experience.

NEC is a board member of the Femtocell Forum, an industry association that was established in July 2007. NEC's activities and groundbreaking work in the Femtocell field are well recognized through honors that include the Femtocell Forum's 2009 award for "Progress in Commercial Deployment" and the 2010 award for "Femtocell Network Design and Technology Innovation." Furthermore, NEC won Telecom Asia Magazine's "2010 Femtocell Vendor of the Year" award, an award intended to recognize vendors and suppliers of innovative products that cultivate new markets in the Asia Pacific rim.

Why I feel sad today.

By: Khurshid Anwer - Lahore May 4 (THE NATION): The PM has said, OBLs death is a victory against terrorism. WhileMusharraf has said it is a violation of Pakistans sovereignty. There are serious doubts whether he was alive at all. Even if alive, he was in isolation without telephone or internet connection, perhaps just a TV set. He was no threat to anyone. Killing him has done more harm than good. The hatred will spread. Perhaps the news has not yet reached our PM that OBL had nothing to do with 9/11. Bush used 9/11 as an excuse to invade Afghanistan. Who created this excuse is the 64,000 dollar question. CIA was already under orders to execute a regime change by executing the Taliban leadership for their refusal to allow oil from the Caspian Sea to pass through Afghanistan to the India Ocean. They wanted their regime to be recognized to which US did not agree. The Puppet PPP government will very conveniently treat this also as another Drone attack. If the Drones can roam freely in our skies, so can US helicopters. There are two villains of the piece in the whole sordid drama. The one who occupied and the other who helped to occupy. Drone attacks will not end until the second villain asks the first villain to leave the scene of the crime. The question Pakistan needs to ask is, who pushed the Taliban out from their homes, when will they be allowed to go back home. If these questions are not asked, the Taliban will remain our enemies even after they go back home. LETTER

The problem with Houston.(News)

Byline: Jackie Bird

Strange: Whitney Houston WHEN Whitney Houston burst on to the music scene in the mid-'80s, she was hugely talented and gorgeous. In the words of one of her hits, she really had it all.

Through the years, her battles with addictions have been well documented. But with her recent comeback album and tour, she seemed to have turned a corner.

However, internet footage of a concert in Australia this week revealed a poor-quality voice and strange on-stage behaviour.

Fans were irate. Some walked out and demanded their money back.

If it wasn't just a cold or an off-day, I'd like to think whoever encouraged Whitney to take to the road is the real villain of the piece. Not a woman who clearly still has her problems.

'They have excellent ideas and also have the enterprise to develop those ideas. It is these abilities that will get the country though the difficult times.

'The enterprise, imagination and determination to succeed of these young people sends a clear message that there is a good future out there. It is all to play for.' The five winners were picked from a shortlist by a distinguished panel, including the Mail's City editor Alex Brummer and TV entrepreneur Caroline Marsh, from estate agents Platinum Properties.

A sixth prize, the People's Choice Award, decided by the public in an online vote, went to Dean Rhodes-Brandon, 17, for Your Local Cinema, an innovative website to help the hearing-impaired and visually impaired enjoy the cinema by listing screenings that cater for them.

The awards were presented at a glittering ceremony at the headquarters of the Institute of Directors in Central London.

Miles Templeman, director general of the Institute of Directors and a member of the judging panel, said: 'These inspirational young people have all shown creativity, determination and business nous.

'It's been said that because young people have never faced a recession before they won't know how to deal with it.

MCI LOCAL SERVICE POISED TO COMPETE AGAINST LOCAL MONOPOLIES; MILWAUKEE CONSUMERS TO BENEFIT FROM A COMPETITIVE LOCAL MARKET

MILWAUKEE, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Milwaukee will be among the first to see local telephone competition as MCI moves aggressively in the wake of the telecommunications bill signed by President Clinton. The bill will allow MCI and other long distance phone companies to challenge the local telephone monopolies on their home turf.

"The gloves are off and we are now free to take on the monopolies head-on," said Nate Davis, chief operating officer for MCImetro, MCI's local service subsidiary. "We now have networks in place and the 'green light' to offer business customers superior service and competitive prices in local as well as long distance calling."

Milwaukee is one of the top 10 cities where MCImetro is now ready to offer local service and where business customers will be given the opportunity to use the new service. MCImetro turned up its local network in Baltimore, Maryland just last week and will start providing local service in Boston, Massachusetts today.

According to MCI officials, Chicago, Detroit, Hartford, Milwaukee, New York, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Seattle will go online in the next 30 days. MCImetro plans to roll out local service in 14 additional major cities in 1996, bringing the total to 24 by the end of the year.

Network reliability continues to be a major issue for business customers in both local and long distance services, with fiber cuts being a common hazard. MCI has responded to this with an aggressive deployment of advanced technologies, like Synchronous Optical Network (SONET), that greatly increase performance and reliability.

With SONET rings, service can be restored within milliseconds if a fiber cable is cut, allowing for virtually uninterrupted service. All of MCImetro's local city networks are built on SONET rings. According to company officials, this feature alone gives them the edge over local companies that have not converted to SONET.

"In addition to competitive prices, other benefits customers can receive right away include faster upgrades to their service and greater reliability," said Davis. "When you combine the added value of MCI's intelligent network capabilities with local service from MCImetro, the result is an unbeatable package for businesses."

MCI, headquartered in Washington, D.C., is one of the world's largest and fastest growing diversified communications companies. With annual revenue of more than $15 billion, MCI offers consumers and businesses a broad portfolio of services including long distance, wireless, local access, paging, Internet software and access, information services, outsourcing, business software, advanced global telecommunications services, and music distribution and merchandising.
